“With its great differences in elevation, Isojärvi National Park offers plenty of challenge. There are many circular trails to choose from. It’s wonderful when there’s enough time on a trip to stop by the fire and enjoy a snack.

I once saw a lynx there - it happened on a dark October evening when I had been hiking in Isojärvi National Park. A short distance from Heretty, a lynx crossed the road in my car’s headlights. The large lynx was a magnificent sight.”

Isojärvi National Park

Located in the Jämsä and Kuhmoinen area, Isojärvi National Park offers a glimpse into the history of forest cabins and the loggers who once worked there. Most of the park’s coniferous forests were managed forests until the park’s establishment.

Isojärvi National Park was founded in 1982 to protect the forested uplands and preserve the natural state of the lake shores.

EräKatri warmly welcomes you to join a guided nature adventure in Isojärvi National Park!

“Even as an inexperienced hiker, it was easy to join the trip with EräKatri. Katri had chosen the perfect routes and packed all the necessary equipment and snacks — all I had to do was show up. I could simply focus on enjoying nature. Thank you for a wonderful day outdoors!”
