“Salamajärvi National Park is the largest in Central Finland and definitely worth a day trip. If you’re lucky, you might encounter the rare forest reindeer in its rugged forests. I relly look forward to meet one.” - EräKatri -

Salamajärvi National Park

In the borderlands of Central Finland and Central Ostrobothnia, surrounded by vast bog wilderness and ancient forests, lies the magnificent Salamajärvi National Park. Established in 1982, the park protects the wilderness landscapes of the Suomenselkä watershed area.

The old-growth forest of Koirajoki has been under protection since 1912, which is why its trees are so large and ancient. Salamajärvi is both spacious and species-rich. Here you can experience Southern Finland’s largest bog areas alongside pristine forest wilderness. And what will go through your mind when you come across a devil’s field – a vast boulder field shaped by the Ice Age?

EräKatri warmly welcomes you to join a guided nature adventure in Salamajärvi National Park.

“Even as an inexperienced hiker, it was easy to join the trip with EräKatri. Katri had chosen the perfect routes and packed all the necessary equipment and snacks — all I had to do was show up. I could simply focus on enjoying nature. Thank you for a wonderful day outdoors!”
