The tour is in Finnish unless otherwise stated.

"A well-planned and clearly guided event."

Green Loop offers urban nature for all senses

The Green Loop circular route is a magnificent 10-kilometer park chain that connects the green and recreational areas surrounding the center of Jyväskylä. A city tour along Green Loop offers a variety of urban nature for all senses and takes its walkers comfortably to the edge of nature, art and culture.

On EräKatri's guided city tour, a nice group is allowed to throw themselves into admiring the offerings of Green Loop, gaining a new perspective on even familiar surroundings. Along the way, you can enjoy nature, changing landscapes and the diverse offerings of the built environment in good company.

This year, the tours will also celebrate circles, as 2026 is Green Loop's 10th anniversary.

On a city trip to a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The world-famous Aalto Campus of the University of Jyväskylä, which has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, is part of the Green Loop. The campus area is a unique cultural and natural environment, a true gem of Finnish architecture, with buildings designed by architect Alvar Aalto.

The Aalto Campus on Seminaarinmäki is therefore part of the Aalto Works complex, which includes a total of 13 architectural sites designed by Alvar, Aino and Elissa Aalto around Finland. In addition to the Aalto Campus, the Säynätsalo Municipal Hall and the Muuratsalo Experimental House in Jyväskylä are part of the complex.

The decision to accept the Aalto Works complex for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List was made on 26 July 2026 at a meeting of the World Heritage Committee in Busan, South Korea. Alvar Aalto Foundation press release.
