Good to know about Isojärvi National Park

In the Isojärvi National Park, located in the Jämsä and Kuhmoinen areas, you can learn about the history of forest huts and loggers. The majority of the coniferous forests in the park have been commercial forests almost until the park was founded. Isojärvi National Park was established in 1982 to protect forested mountain areas and preserve the shores in their natural state.

Isojärvi National Park was established in 1982.
The symbol of Isojärvi National Park is the chisel-toothed beaver. The hardworking and shy beaver moves around in the evening and at night. On Isojärvi, the beavers are more accustomed to travelers, so you may be able to follow their activities if you can wait quietly long enough.

The driving time from Jyväskylä to Isojärvi National Park to a different parking area is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. It is a good idea to check in advance if you can carpool.
