“Southern Konnevesi National Park provides wonderful settings for both demanding day hikes and summer paddling adventures. A successful trip always begins with good preparation - proper equipment and enough food to eat.

My own trips in Southern Konnevesi have been especially rewarding. Once, while checking my map at a trail junction, I heard loud rustling nearby - and moment later, I saw a large marten bounding through the forest. It stopped, and for a while we just looked at each other. An unforgettable moment.”

Southern Konnevesi National Park

In Southern Konnevesi National Park, Central Finland meets Northern Savonia, and island-studded waters meet rugged cliffs and rocky shores. It is the newest national park in Central Finland, established to protect the area’s unique lake and archipelago ecosystems, bedrock formations, and waterscape.

The park’s trails are generally rocky and rooty, adding a sense of adventure. Ancient forests alternate with lush groves and steep pine-covered slopes. It’s a delight to listen to the rustling leaves of tall aspens telling their stories in the summer wind. The park’s flying squirrels, active mainly at dusk, thrive in these mixed old forests.

Southern Konnevesi is also home to the densest population of ospreys in Central Finland. Watching these impressive birds soar and dive for fish is a breathtaking sight. The park’s diverse nature keeps visitors coming back again and again. Have you been yet?

EräKatri warmly welcomes you to join a guided nature experience in Southern Konnevesi National Park.
