EräKatri challenges you to donate blood

Hi there! Are you already a lifesaver? I'm EräKatri, I'm challenging you to donate blood. Did you know:

  • Blood is needed every day. Blood donors are needed every day. Blood cannot be artificially produced.

  • Blood is a vital aid for, among others, cancer patients and accident victims.

  • With one blood donation, you can help up to three patients and feel good about yourself.

  • You can donate blood at ten Blood Service points in larger cities, on a blood donation bus in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, and with the mobile blood service in different parts of Finland.

  • Many companies allow blood donation during working hours. Ask if you can do it.

In Finland, only about 3 percent of the population of donor age donates blood annually.

  • Every year, over 20,000 new blood donors are needed. Are you one of them?

Not everyone can donate blood. Thank you for helping. Thank you for helping by donating blood or encouraging your friends to donate blood.

Single Donors is a national donor group for singles

There are over 5,000 donor groups in Finland, and singles also have their own Single Donors. Every blood donor can belong to one donor group.

  • Single Donors is a national donor group founded by EräKatri in May 2026.

  • If you are single and donate blood at any time, anywhere in Finland, you are welcome to join this national Single Donors donor group.

Anonymous points are collected in donor groups

The national donor groups of the Finnish Blood Service collect anonymous points. One donation is one point. No personal or other identifying information about the donors is given to anyone.

  • It would be wonderful if you, as a single person, mention the donor group Single Donors to the nurse at the beginning of the donation. This way you collect one point for the common donation pool for singles. Thank you and bow!

You can follow the donor groups' points situation on the Finnish Blood Service website. The points situation is updated with a delay.

EräKatri's singles event with a low threshold for blood donation

By participating in EräKatri's singles events, you will meet other wonderful and independent people in the same life situation without stress or pressure. You are welcome to join us with a low threshold.

This is EräKatri's invitation to a different kind of feel-good singles event. The free singles event at the Blood Service office in connection with blood donation offers many nice things for both first-time donors and all blood donation veterans.

  • Come join the wonderful singles community.

  • Come join the life-saving work, donate blood.

  • Come join the singles group and have a coffee.

  • Come get to know the Blood Service office.

When you come to donate blood, all you need is an open and helpful mind and a pair of jeans. Professionals will take care of you, take care of the blood in the bag and the bags on the way.

It's also good that you are welcome to join this feel-good singles event even if you don't donate blood this time. Donors are encouraged. We'll have coffee together.

You can come alone or with a single friend. If you don't have a friend, that's okay, I'll be there as a friend. See you!

PROFESSIONAL GUIDELINES FOR THOSE WHO ARE GOING TO DONATE BLOOD
Thank you for your help.

WHO CAN DONATE BLOOD?
As a healthy adult, you can probably donate blood, as long as
* you start donating blood no later than the age of 65.
* your weight is between 50 and 199 kilograms.
Good to know that most illnesses or medications do not prevent you from donating blood.

HOW TO PREPARE TO DONATE BLOOD
The most important thing is the desire to help. So make the best decision of the day and donate blood.
* Fill out the health questionnaire on the day of donation or the day before: terveyskysely.fi
* Eat and drink normally on the day of donation.
* Bring your driver's license, official ID card or passport with you to the donation.

ARE YOU DONATING BLOOD FOR THE FIRST TIME?
If you are coming to donate blood for the first time, take a short online test in advance: veripalvelu.fi/en/can-i-donate/
* You will find out your hemoglobin and blood type.
* You are especially welcome as a first-time donor.

ENJOY THE END OF THE DAY IN A GOOD Mood
It has been proven that helping does you good. By donating blood, you can help up to three patients.
* After the donation, it is time to treat yourself. Enjoy a tasty snack in good company. Coffee, a selection of juices and hot drinks, bread rolls, buns, nuts and a small sweet are available.
* On the day of the donation, it is advisable to avoid exercise, sauna use and excessive sweating.
* It is important to remember to drink more than usual after the donation.

Enjoy the good mood after donating blood and take the rest of the day with a relaxed attitude.

The helpful staff of the blood service will handle donations with utmost professionalism and in the order of arrival.

* Blood service: donating is safe, it rarely causes any harm. All blood donors are insured against harm and accidents caused by blood donation.
