Good to know about Southern Konnevesi National Park

In the Southern Konnevesi National Park, Central Finland meets North Savo, and the waters of the archipelago meet rugged rocky shores and mountainous landscapes.

The Southern Konnevesi National Park is the newest of the Central Finland parks and was established to preserve the flora, bedrock and waterscape of coastal and archipelago nature.

The trails in the Southern Konnevesi National Park are generally very rocky and have roots. Green groves and steep-sloped pine forests add variety to the old forests.

It is nice to listen to the vibrant foliage of the valuable large aspens beautifully telling their own story as the summer wind sways the branches. The park's twilight-active flying squirrels thrive in the old mixed forests.

The densest population of the protected Osprey in Central Finland is found in the South Konnevesi National Park. Soaring in the sky and diving for fish in the open air is a magnificent sight. The diverse nature makes hikers return to Etelä-Konnevesi National Park again and again.

Osprey National Park

Southern Konnevesi National Park was established in 2014. It is the newest national park in Central Finland.
The emblematic animal of South Konnevesi National Park is our big fish-eating bird of prey, the Osprey. The Osprey stay winters in Africa and returns to its familiar nest in April.

The driving time from Jyväskylä to Etelä-Konnevesi National Park, Konnevesi Harbour is approximately 55 minutes and from Rautalammi to Kalaja parking lot or Hanhitaipale Harbour is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. It is a good idea to check in advance if carpooling is possible.
