NATURE SWIMMING IS WONDERFUL

Swim with EräKatri

This is for you who know how to swim and like to swim. For you who want to make new memories.

Did you know that swimming is an excellent way to enjoy nature? Swimming is a versatile form of exercise that uses up a lot of energy without putting strain on your joints. Swimming has been shown to activate the entire body, relieve stress and bring good mood, among other health benefits.

All the good health effects of swimming are available to you too. There are 224 swimming pools and 168,000 lakes in Finland. I strongly believe that everyone can find a place they like to enjoy the water, swim or take a dip. In a pool or in open water.

Swimming brings good mood to life, presence. Light swimming revitalizes and restores our heart rate while lowering it.

Swimming in summer - dipping in winter

How lucky we are that in Finland's clean waters, nature swimming is possible all year round.

When swimming outdoors, the connection to nature is present. You get to be embraced by the water, surrounded by it and enjoy the sounds and landscapes of nature. When was the last time you swam in Finland? Or did you go night swimming?

Did you know that cold swimming makes the body react, triggering various good physiological reactions. Stress decreases, muscle pain is relieved, the body hardens, and the metabolism is stimulated. After a cold swim, you feel good. Have you taken a dip in the open water?

To test, for swimming guided by me, you can borrow

  • a mermaid tail with monofin

  • safety buoys, swimming goggles, swimming caps, nose clip

  • flip flops, swimming shoes, Skinners socks, crocs

  • 2 masks, snorkel

  • a few wetsuits

  • life jackets for children, teenagers, adults and small dogs

  • towels, dry bags

Swimmer's safety buoy for you

Swimming in open water is possible without any equipment other than a swimsuit as long as your feet reach the bottom and you swim with a buddy along the shore.

If you swim longer distances without your feet reaching the bottom all the time, remember your safety buoy. The inflatable swimmer's safety buoy provides safety while also being a dry storage bag for keys, phone and extra energy. The buoy helps the swimmer's visibility. It saves, for example, in the event of a stroke.

A brightly colored safety buoy always gives you the opportunity to rest for a moment when needed.

Buy your own orange Arena safety buoy. You will receive it immediately for 45 euros incl. VAT 25.5%

Would you like to try a mermaid tail?

Mermaids are wonderful. I saw a mermaid for the first time in 3/2014 at the South Bank outdoor swimming pool in Brisbane, Australia. At first I couldn't believe what I saw. I fell in love immediately and decided that someday I would get my own tail. Making my dream come true took time. Finally, in 9/2025, I got a fin, a beautiful mermaid tail for myself.

Would you like to see a mermaid in the lake? Would you like to try on a mermaid tail?

EräKatri's swimming background

As a child, I "lived" in the lake during the summers. Swimming and sauna were the best I knew. When I was young, I was a competitive swimmer. At some point, I smoothly switched to scuba diving, competing in fin swimming. I have trained as a swimming instructor, worked as a swimming supervisor at a children's pool and as a swimming instructor both indoors and in natural waters. I have taught many children to swim.

I still always take the opportunity if I have the opportunity to dive in a 25 m pool or jump from a diving tower. It is important to maintain skills.

As an adult, I have gone on swimming trips and participated in a few long-distance swimming events. In 2020, I fulfilled a few of my long-term dreams related to swimming. In August, I participated in a triathlon sprint in Vierumäki and in October, in the Masters Finnish Short Course Swimming Competition in Kuopio. Great experiences, I beat myself.

Water safety is everyone's business

I respect water and safety on the water is always the most important thing. I feel that promoting water safety locally here in Finland, home to thousands of lakes, is a very important issue.

Most of us can swim. Whether we can act or help ourselves is another matter.

Casualties, near misses and accidents always happen unexpectedly. Sometimes even good swimming skills don't help in a situation. I once experienced a vein pull while swimming in a swimming pool. The intermediate rope saved a scary situation. I always only swim in a lake with a swimming buoy if my foot doesn't reach the bottom. When I go to iceswimming, I take a dip, staying very close to the stairs. In 2019, I had pulmonary edema at an international swimming event on the Swedish side. I can tell you, it was a very scary experience. It took me a long time to get over it. However, I survived. It took some time to get the courage to swim again. I first got used to it in the Vaajakoski swimming pool, and later on a quiet cottage beach with the support of a friend.

As someone who has had many experiences and learned a lot, I am happy to say that I love swimming and sauna bathing is still the best.

Have a nice day!

You are warmly welcome to join us. It is possible to organize a swimming trip at nice beach destinations. Please contact us with a low threshold.

Kind regards
